ECO Farm Food Forest
Food production, the way mother nature intended
Support ECO Farm's Food Forest and Change our Planet
Our most forward-thinking endeavor to promote sustainability is the ECO Farm Food Forest Project. Although we use best practices to grow our crops through traditional organic annual farming methods, ECO Farm staff is currently in the process converting the majority of the producing fields into a food forest.

Following Mother Nature's Blueprint

"Forest gardening is a low-maintenance, sustainable, plant-based food production and agroforestry system based on woodland ecosystems, incorporating fruit and nut trees, shrubs, herbs, vines and perennial vegetables which have yields directly useful to humans.” - Wikipedia. In other words, food production, the way mother nature intended. More yields. Less effort. And Better for the Earth..

Benefits to forest gardening are not only measured in food, but also in creating a brand new eco-system that will benefit the stability of the land, climate, the species living in the forest and the planet as a whole.
"If you do nothing to a piece of land...
it will become a forest."
- National Geographic

Our Plan
In order to convert a majority of our farm into food forest, we need to move forward in phases. The phases will consider the time of growth, understanding the plant species that work in our environment, and cover the sheer area of farm land we are converting, which will total about 3 acres.
Phase 1
The purpose of this project is to establish a visual screen, windbreak, and shade along the 89A corridor. It will provide cover for the pecan trees as they establish themselves, protect the soil from erosion, and mitigate flood damage. Once established, it will provide shade and cover for grazing animals.
